FTP Image Upload
Uploading images via FTP
This guide explains the procedure for uploading images to the web server. Please have the info PDF with your access data ready, which was sent to you by Glarotech GmbH after the shop setup, or the corresponding documents from your hosting provider if you do not host your web shop with Glarotech GmbH.
FileZilla Installation
First, you need a program that allows you to upload the images to the web server. We recommend FileZilla Client, as it is easy to use, open-source and therefore free of charge, and available for all systems (Windows, Linux, Mac).
- You can download FileZilla here: http://filezilla-project.org/download.php
(Select the link corresponding to your operating system in the table)
- Now install the downloaded program on your computer. For Windows, double-click the icon and follow the instructions.
Starting FileZilla
Now start the newly installed FileZilla program. (Windows: Start → FileZilla → select FileZilla) You now have 2 options for establishing a connection. Either enter your server and user data directly in the upper form and click “Quickconnect”, or first go to the Site Manager (button at the top left) to save the access and then connect to the server. You can view the FTP access data in your info PDF. We recommend the second option, which we describe in more detail in the next chapter, as you can then upload files again later with one click.

Site Manager
- In the Site Manager, you can now save a new server by clicking on “New site”. Now enter your data as shown in the following image. With “Rename”, you can choose the name for the connection. Click “OK” to save the data. The following data is required:
| FileZilla input mask | Data to be entered / Glarotech GmbH Info PDF |
|---|---|
| Host | Server name from chapter: FTP access (for homepage upload), e.g. ftp.yourdomain.tld |
| Logon Type | Select ‘Normal’ |
| User | Username from chapter: Server data (FTP access/Control Panel) |
| Password | Password from chapter: Server data (FTP access/Control Panel) |
- Open the Site Manager again, select your server, and click on “Connect” to establish the connection.
From now on, you only need to perform step 2 if you want to upload new/other files to the web server later.

Operation / ProductImages Folder
You will now see your local files (on your PC) on the left and those of the server on the right. Navigate to the next folder by clicking on the arrows until you are in the ProductImages folder on the server side. You can also switch directly by entering the path in the field at the top (framed in Figure 3).

Uploading images
To upload your images, switch to the folder on the left (local) where the images are located and select “Upload” via right-click.
What you need to pay attention to:
- The images must end in
_gr.jpg/_gr.png/_gr.gif - Additional images for an item must be named according to the following example:
image_gr_1.jpg,image_gr_2.jpg, etc. - Ensure that case sensitivity is applied correctly.

To generate the thumbnails, go to “Shop Configuration” in the Shop Administration, look for the link “Create and update thumbnails” and execute the link (in blue text).
6.Product Details
In addition to product images, you can also upload files to the ProductDetails folder.
These are then available in the shop in the item editing mask for linking with the items (e.g., HTML files or PDFs). When the item is viewed by the customer, a link called ‘further information’ is available below the description. Clicking this link opens the corresponding file. HTML and PHP files are even displayed specifically in the shop content area. To embed videos, the easiest way is to follow the description in the following FAQ entry: http://www.phpeppershop.com/faq.php#37.
