Warranty notice
What is the warranty notice?
Statutory warranty law requires retailers to stand behind defects in sold goods that already existed at the time of handover. This regulation applies to sales to consumers in the EU.
From 27 September 2026, retailers must also inform consumers with a harmonised notice on the statutory warranty. This notice is provided by the European Commission in a uniform format and in all official EU languages and must not be altered in content.
In the PepperShop online shop, you can automatically provide the warranty notice to your EU customers using the warranty label.
How to activate the warranty label
- In the PepperShop administration, go to “Settings” → “General” → “Order process”.
- In the section “Order process display”, tick the checkbox “Show warranty label”.
Customer-facing changes
- A customer adds a product to the shopping cart and enters their billing or delivery address.
- If PepperShop detects that the order is going to an EU country, the button “Your warranty rights” is automatically displayed on the order overview page.
- Via this button, the customer can open the official harmonised warranty notice as a PDF. Depending on the online shop language set, the PDF is automatically displayed in the corresponding language.
- After completing the order, the customer receives the order confirmation by e-mail. This contains a brief note on the statutory warranty rights as well as the harmonised warranty notice as a PDF attachment.
