Introduction

As of June 28, 2025, digital accessibility is mandatory in the EU. Swiss online shops that sell to EU countries must also meet these requirements – otherwise, high fines are threatened.

When you are affected

Companies that operate an online shop and deliver goods to end customers in the EU are generally affected. However, there are exceptions for small businesses or if you operate a closed system with B2B customers.

Module Configuration

Required to Start

To install the module, shop version V11 is required.

Step 1: Install Module

  1. Open the shop administration.
  2. Navigate to “Modules” → “Module Management”.
  3. In the “Not yet installed modules” column, select the “Accessibility” module.
  4. Click on “Install” and then on “Manage Module”.

Step 2: Activate Module

  1. Navigate in the shop administration to “Modules” → “Accessibility”.
  2. Under the “Configuration” tab, you can activate the module.

Status

In the module editing mask “Accessibility” under the “Status” tab, it is shown which requirements your shop already meets (green) and which still need to be adjusted (red). To access the respective settings, you can click on the underlined text.

Reports

Under the “Reports” tab, you can generate a report.

Generate Basic Report

To generate the basic report, select up to 20 articles in the “Article Selection” field for which the page should be checked for optimizable content. You can also select up to 10 category pages in the “Category Selection” field, which will also be checked for optimizable content. Please note that the basic report always costs CHF 80.00 (excl. VAT) – regardless of how many articles and/or categories are evaluated.

Generate Full Report

A full report analyzes all existing article, category, and content pages for optimization potential so that your shop meets all accessibility requirements. Please note that this full report is always charged at CHF 120.00 (excl. VAT) – regardless of how many pages your shop includes.

Existing Reports

Under the heading “Existing Reports”, all previously requested reports are listed. These are available to you at any time.

Note on Contrasts

In the shop administration under “Design” → “Settings” → “Design Detail Adjustments”, you can adjust the background and text colors in the shop. Using comment fields in various colors, you will be informed about the quality of the contrast:

  • green: Contrast very good
  • blue: Contrast sufficient
  • red: Contrast insufficient → Please adjust the text color and/or background color so that all customers can read the text without problems

Accessibility Statement

As soon as the accessibility module is installed, you will find the content page “Accessibility Statement” in the shop administration under “Content” → “Pages”. There, our standard text on accessibility in the shop is stored. By default, this page is not yet linked in the shop. If you want to display this page in your shop, you can link it accordingly. Customer-Side View

In the customer view of the shop, a black circle with a white figure appears at the top left. When you click on it, the accessibility assistant is displayed.

Contrast Mode

With contrast mode, contrasts are displayed improved.

Pause All Videos

With this button, all videos on the page are paused.

Night Mode

With night mode, dark mode is activated for the shop.

Font Size

Using the plus and minus buttons, the font size can be adjusted. With a click on the arrow, the changes are reset.

Color Blindness

In color blindness mode, various modes can be selected that better highlight contrasts.

Quick Access Menu

In the quick access menu, various keyboard shortcuts are listed per page that serve for easier operation. Additionally, you can click directly on the terms to go to the respective locations.

Hide Accessibility Assistant

This button hides the accessibility assistant.

Reset All

A click on this button resets all changes made.

Tab Key

When you enter the shop and use the Tab key without clicking first, the accessibility assistant opens directly.
