Login Post Connector
Introduction
The ‘Login Post Connector’ is a Swiss Post service that allows users to log in to a large number of online shops. Instead of having to register with each shop individually, users can log in via a single login. The current master data such as address, e-mail, etc. are transmitted automatically.
Advantages
If you would like to offer login via ‘Login Post Connector’ in your online shop, this is possible with this module. Not only your customers, but also you will benefit from this.
Advantages for customers
-
Easy and fast login: Convenient login without having to memorise new passwords saves time and effort.
-
Shortened checkout process: Automatic transfer of address data speeds up the ordering process.
-
Increased security: Login via trusted service protects against security risks due to insecure passwords and offers additional protective measures.
-
Manage profile master data centrally: Customers can manage their personal data and settings in one place, which simplifies organisation and administration.
Advantages for online shops
- Trust and security: Login via known service strengthens trust in your shop and customer loyalty to your company.
- Better user experience and more sales: Improved user experience and fewer abandoned purchases during the ordering process thanks to convenient login.
- Automatic and up-to-date address data: The Post-Login-Connector automatically takes over customers’ current address data, which minimises input errors and reduces shipping problems.
To get started you need
- The free Identity Prodivder module (already pre-installed)
- The paid Login Post Connector module
- A Secret and Client ID from Swiss Post (please contact our support team for this)
Configuration of the module
We will now explain step by step how you can configure the module and customise it to your needs.
Step 1: Customer attributes
Some customer attributes must be checked in the shop administration. To do this, go to ‘Settings’ -> ‘Customer attributes’ on the left-hand tab in the administration.
-
House numbers: If the delivery is sent to addresses without house numbers (MyPost24, Postlagernd, etc.), the house number field must not be a mandatory field. You must therefore uncheck the ‘Check’ box for the house number and save it.
-
Telephone: Telephone numbers are not mandatory fields in Login Connector Post, so they must not be defined as mandatory fields in the shop. The synchronised address data is protected against changes in the checkout.
Please note that only the following attributes may have the ‘check’ box ticked:
- Salutation
- First name
- Surname
- Street
- Postcode
- City
Step 2: Identity Provider Module
In your administration, click on ‘Modules’ in the tab on the left. Then click on the ‘Identity Provider’ module. (After you have purchased the Login Post Connector module, you will now find the ‘Post’ section here).
- tick the ‘Login Post activation’ box
- enter the Secret ID of Swiss Post under ‘Client ID’.
- enter the token ID of the post office under ‘Secret ID’.
- click on ‘Save’ at the bottom.
The most important settings have now been made. You can also make further settings.
Test mode
If there is a test phase, the Login Post Connector module can be configured to communicate via a test platform. In this case, it does not operate with live data.
Create login intermediate page
We recommend that you deactivate this page as it is an additional step for the customer. They are given the choice of whether they want to combine the existing online shop account with the Login Post account or have two separate accounts.
Address validation activation
Should the addresses be checked before the order overview and, if necessary, an information message issued to the customer? If the postcode and city do not match, this is considered a problem and an information message is issued. If the postcode and city match, the customer is informed that they should check their street and house number.
Complete city based on postcode
Should the city be filled in automatically based on the postcode entry?
It is recommended to activate this feature. The natural completion process within the checkout leads the customer to the postcode input field first (CH standard) and would also correctly pre-fill the city in this case.
Completion of the street
Should the shop offer an auto-complete function when filling in the street?
This feature works with the entire address data set. If a postcode and/or town/city has already been entered before the street, only the street names that also occur in this town/city will be displayed as options. If the postcode/city is still empty, all streets in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein are suggested as a solution.
This auto-completion is convenient because customers do not have to type the full street name and misspelled street names are also prevented.
Registration form Login Post Connector - PepperShop
This data is important for registering for the Login Post Connector. The data is generated automatically.
Important information
Attention: Deactivating the Login Post Connector
If you have operated the shop with the Login Post login option activated for a while and now deactivate this functionality, customers who have logged in to the shop via Login Post and have not linked a shop account to it will no longer be able to log in to the shop. A new account must then be created.
Attention: Test mode
If the module is operated in test mode, your customers cannot log in to the shop with their Login Post accounts.
Step 3: Log in via Swiss Post
There are three ways in which the customer can log in via Die Post.
Via the customer account
Customers can go to ‘My account’ in the shop. There is then the option of logging into the customer account or directly via ‘Log in with identity provider’.
Connecting an existing customer
If the customer already has a shop account and wants to add the address data of Swiss Post to it, a connection between the shop account and Login Post can be established (and cancelled) in the customer area under ‘Link account with identity provider’.
Log in to the checkout with Swiss Post
If the customer decides to log in with die Post during the checkout process, you can decide afterwards whether to log in only via die Post in future or whether to create an additional login + password for an account directly in the PepperShop.
Installation
Our hosting customers receive the module fully installed after ordering. This chapter is therefore only aimed at purchasing customers who wish to install the module themselves. If you are a hosting customer, you can ignore this chapter.
System requirements
To use the Login Post module, at least a PepperShop v.5.0.0.31 Standard or Connect is required. This module is based internally on the Identity Provider Framework of the PepperShop.
Copy and upload files
The Login Post module can be downloaded from the download area of your PepperShop account. It consists of two directories that must be copied into your installed PepperShop. To do this, first unpack the ZIP archive. Now copy the files analogue to the folder structure in the ZIP archive into the following directories:
{shopdir}/shop/Admin/module/identity_provider/
{shopdir}/shop/module/identity_provider/
{shopdir}/shop/language/html_templates/
The files can be easily uploaded to the web server via FTP or SCP. The placeholder {shopdir}
stands for the shop directory on the web server, where the file index.php
together with README.txt
can be found.
Module installation
After copying the files, switch to the shop administration in the browser and go to the ‘Modules’ menu. On the left-hand side, under the modules that have not yet been installed, you will now see the Identity Provider module listed.
Simply select the Identity Provider module and click on the ‘Install’ button.
If the installation routine runs without any problems, this will be communicated on the following page; please confirm.
The installation of the Login Post module based on the PepperShop Identity Provider module is now complete. In order for the module to be used, it must now be adapted to the specific configuration of your Login Post account. To do this, follow the instructions in the next chapter: Configuration of the Login Post module.
